Deferment of Summer Taxes for Senior Citizens:
If you
have filed for a tax refund under the Michigan Senior
Citizen Property Tax Credit and do not receive your
refund by the February 15 penalty date, you may obtain a
Waiver of Penalty for your late payment with proof of
filing. Contact City Hall for more information.

Exemption for Deferring July Tax to December Tax Roll
Without Penalty:
You may defer (not pay) your July taxes
and have these put on the December tax roll without
penalties if you meet the following qualifications:
--You are a homeowner in the City of Mason and have
resided in that home for at least the entire previous
calendar year.
Total household income for the preceding year did not
exceed $37,500.
--You are 62 years of age by December 31, of the current
year OR you are a paraplegic or quadriplegic or are
totally and permanently disabled or are a blind person
OR you are an eligible serviceman, veteran, or a widow.
If you qualify for this exemption, applications are
available at Mason City Hall, 201 West Ash Street. To
request applications by mail, call (517) 676-9155. These
applications should be returned before June 1, of that
year.
