Copies of reports may be obtained from the Mason Police
Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Most
accident reports may be purchased 3 business days after the date
of the accident, and the fee is $3.00. Other police reports may be
purchased by the complainant/victim after the report has been
completed.
The fee is $3.00 for the first 4 pages, and $.25 for
any additional pages. Anyone other than the complainant/victim who
wishes to obtain a police report (other than an accident report)
must file a request under the Freedom of Information Act. The cost
of such a report will be determined by the length of the report
and the time involved duplicating it.
No “open” case report will
be sold to anyone other than the complainant/victim. No report
that has been sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for
investigation will be sold to anyone other than the
complainant/victim, until such time as the incident is considered
closed. Persons whom criminal charges are being sought against in
these type cases, must contact the Ingham County Prosecutor’s
Office to obtain copies of reports.
